about

Riding my bike in Orrong Crescent, screaming at anyone who would listen about how I hate talking to people who aren't listening.

The first version of this song had me howling at the top of my voice, Henry Rollins style. Thankfully Alon Lutherking came along and gave it a more subtle treatment, changing it from a deranged bit of Janov therapy, in to a smooth urban sound, Givat Chen style.

Oggy played the shit out of this. As did the Shak Attack on the tubs.

lyrics

You can never shut me up
you can't shut me down
you can never shut me up
stop me making my sound
this is my sound

You don't want me
walking around
you don't want me
stand up proud
you don't want me
to draw a crowd
but I can do my thing
every man must be allowed

You can never shut me up
you can't shut me down
you can never shut me up
stop me making my sound
this is my sound

You'd have my face hidden by a cloud
or wrapped in sackcloth
a dead man's shroud
begging on my knees
down face bowed
but I can do my thing
every man must be allowed

You can never shut me up
you can't shut me down
you can never shut me up
stop me making my sound
this is my sound

I'm gonna to speak my mind
I'm gonna to talk it out
I'm gonna shake and bake and take it to the hoop
I'm gonna speak my mind
I'm gonna talk it out
I'm gonna shake and bake and make it to the truth

Coal is gone
this uncut jewel
won't drop the ball
play the fool
I'm gonna take you back to school
I'm a man
you listen
